Check for Automatic Updates

There have been a large number of updates to many software products recently because a security vulnerability was found that was common throughout these products.

So one of the golden rules to keep you safe - ensure your settings are set to install updates automatically. Try setting your update time for when your computer is on but you are not likely to be using it. This gives the computer time to download and, if needed, reboot to install. Many have it set their computer to update in the middle of the night, which means that if you have switched off your computer, the update will occur as soon as you turn it on which will slow down your computer at a time when you really want to use it.
