Use PayPal to pay for items and separate your bank details from the seller
If you want to buy or sell an item from Ebay or some other provider online it is wise to set up an account with PayPal. PayPal is like an intermediary between your banks and your buyer or seller. You will keep your bank details private, and your buyer or seller will only see paid by PayPal.
When you sign up for a PayPal account, you need to create a username and password. Please make sure this is a strong password, at least 8 characters with a combination of letters, uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols. Do not store the password on the computer, write it down somewhere in a safe place not next to the computer. You will also need to enter the credit card and/or bank account you wish PayPal to use for purchases on their secure system. You only have to do this once. Then when you are shopping on websites and you need to pay for something, if there is the option to pay by PayPal, use that option.
